Session 12 Blog: Timestamp for the future educational technology

By reading the article, I think the personal cloud is viable and of great significance. As the author mentioned, individuals will have the capacity to remain in ‘Perpetual contact ’ with diverse networks and communities, both physical and virtual. In the future, individuals are more likely to ‘wrap’ their information landscape themselves instead of managing through institutions. From my perspective, this is very important, as an individual, we have read and learn lots of things. However, it is impossible to remember them and it’s not efficient when we want to use them. If all the information can be stored in our personal database, it will be much more efficient for us to retrieve the information. I’m planning to conduct a research on how the gay people use online dating apps to meet their goals and what are the influences of the apps have on them? I’m thinking about the questionnaire this week and start working on designing it. This week, I mainly focus on the literature review part. I used the Columbia University Online Library and google scholar to do the research related to my topic. My last critique assignment was about how the disadvantaged minorities use the internet to expand their social networks, and I want to narrow it down to the gay males in the US to see how could the online communication help them to communicate with the gay people. I chose one of the most popular gay male dating app called Grindr and found some researches related to that.
